La parola novità corrisponde al sostantivo “news” e non all'aggettivo “new”. “News”, che è un sostantivo non numerabile, non può essere preceduto dall'articolo indeterminativo, ma viene spesso accompagnato da “some/any”: Ho una novità, I've got some news (non I've got a new). La parola “news” corrisponde anche a notizie e a ogni tipo di notiziario (radio, TV ecc.): Hai visto il telegiornale?, have you seen the news?
